With over two decades in the healthcare field—as a radiologic technologist, mammographer, PACS/RIS administrator, imaging supervisor, and chief technologist—I've developed comprehensive insights into both clinical operations and healthcare delivery systems. My career in nonprofit, governmental hospitals, and academic medical centers has allowed me to lead initiatives designing training programs, clinical systems, policies, and workflows that measurably improved patient care and departmental efficiency. These experiences have sparked my growing passion for exploring the critical intersection of data, systems design, and human experience in healthcare.
Throughout my professional journey, I've both witnessed and studied the effects of imposter syndrome—a pervasive issue silently undermining confidence, performance, and wellbeing across all levels of healthcare. While initially focusing on women of color in academia, my leadership experiences reveal this phenomenon affects a diverse range of professionals and students throughout healthcare environments. Addressing this challenge requires moving beyond anecdotal evidence toward a data-driven approach that integrates personal narratives with informatics methodologies to identify patterns, root causes, and implementable solutions.
